Renewing Your Items

You can renew the items you’ve checked out in-person in the library, or you can renew online through your WorldCat account.

Follow this link to learn how to set up your account:

Overdues

We send courtesy and overdue notices to patrons via the university’s Rangers email. Failure to receive or read electronic notices is not grounds for reduction or cancellation of bills.

We consider items overdue to be lost. The library will levy either a replacement fee for the items or a default fee of $25.00 for each lost item.

If you return the items within from the date you paid the bill, you may request a refund of the replacement cost.

Patrons with outstanding bills cannot check out materials, and the Registry Office will place a hold on their accounts. This can prevent you from enrolling, receiving a copy of your grades, or ordering your transcripts—even several years later!

To inquire about holds on your account, please contact the library.

Borrowing Materials

To borrow materials:

  • All students, staff, and faculty need a current university I.D. card.

  • Faculty, staff, and students from an OK-Share member institution may borrow two books from the Northwestern Libraries with a valid OK-Share Courtesy Card.

OK-Share Card Program

OK-Share is a cooperative program among Oklahoma’s private and public college and university libraries that allows higher education students, faculty, and staff to borrow library materials from any participating library.

For a complete listing of OK-Share member libraries, see the OK-Share Directory. Each library sets its own policies for OK-Share patrons, so borrowing privileges may differ from those at Northwestern.

If a patron presents an OK-Share card, our access services librarian will create a temporary account for the patron in our system. OK-Share cardholders can check out two books from the main and children’s collections. Recent releases are excluded.

For information on how to obtain an OK-Share card, contact Library Services.
