Search the Library Catalog
How to Find Journals in the Catalog
Navigate to the library catalog by choosing Catalog ⇒ Go to the Catalog from the navigation bar.
In the catalog, select the Resources dropdown menu and choose the option eJournals A–Z List.

When the search junction appears, select the tab labeled Journals.
Search or browse:
Search the eJournals A–Z List to find out if Northwestern provides full-text coverage.
Alternatively, select the Browse tab to see a complete list of journal titles.

Navigate to the library catalog by choosing Catalog ⇒ Go to the Catalog from the navigation bar.
Choose the Advanced Search option.

Under Search Index, select Title. Then type the name of the journal you want to find in the Search Term bar.
Specify Journal/Magazine under Format and conduct your search.

While in an EBSCO database, select the tab labeled Publications to browse or search the publication list.
You can subscribe to receive updates from a particular journal by selecting the RSS icon () to the left of the journal’s title.

Cochrane Systematic Reviews
- Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews
- Why search here? Systematic reviews are exhaustive meta-studies that arrive at best medical practices based on available research. This is a vital database for the Division of Nursing.
- What’s included? Over 4,800 full-text reviews are included. The database updates quarterly, and reviews are sometimes altered when new information becomes available.

- American Journal of Critical Care
Publishes original manuscripts describing investigations, advances, & observations from all specialties related to the care of critically ill patients.
- American Journal of Nursing
The American Journal of Nursing (AJN) is the oldest and largest circulating nursing journal in the world. The Journal’s mission is to promote excellence in professional nursing, with a global perspective, by providing cutting edge, evidence-based information that embraces a holistic perspective on health and nursing.
- American Journal of Public Health
Articles of original research, research methods, program evaluations, and analytic reviews, including health policy analysis and reports on health policy.
- Critical Care Nurse
Publishes practical, clinically relevant manuscripts describing care of critically ill patients & their families. Provides information concerning the bedside care of critically & acutely ill patients.
- Journal of Law, Medicine & Ethics
An interdisciplinary informer of public health for members of the American Society of Law, Medicine & Ethics. Articles, review essays, recent law developments, and book reviews.
- Pediatric Nursing
Provides current information on practice, policy, and research for pediatric nurses. Emphasis is placed on the changing role of the pediatric nurse practitioner/clinical specialist.
- BMJ: British Medical Journal
The BMJ is an international peer reviewed medical journal and a fully ‘online first’ publication. Our publishing model—‘continuous publication’—means that all articles appear on bmj.com before being included in an issue of the print journal.

The Journal will accept articles that focus on baccalaureate and higher degree nursing education, educational research, policy related to education, and education and practice partnerships.
- The Journal of Rural Health
The Journal of Rural Health, a quarterly journal published by the NRHA, offers original research encompassing evaluations of model and demonstration projects to improve rural health, statistical comparisons of rural and urban differences, and mathematical models examining the use of health care services by rural residents.
- Nursing Administration Quarterly
Relied upon by nurse executives for more than 20 years, Nursing Administration Quarterly (NAQ) is the management tool you need to thrive in today's turbulent health care environment.
- Nursing Outlook
Nursing Outlook, a bi-monthly journal, provides innovative ideas for nursing leaders through peer-reviewed articles and timely reports. Each issue examines current issues and trends in nursing practice, education, and research, offering progressive solutions to the challenges facing the profession.
- Nursing Research
