Assignment 3: Use Interlibrary Loan

Get Resources from Other Libraries

Interlibrary loan is a service to get materials owned by other libraries. In this assignment, you’ll learn how to order through this service.

Interlibrary Loan Tutorial

Interlibrary loan is a service to get materials we don’t have.

The library catalog and all subscription databases contain tools to help you request an interlibrary loan.

  • Article requests from EBSCOhost databases:

  • Book and article requests from our catalog:

  • When all else fails:

    1. You can use the Interlibrary Loan Form. Fill out the form with as much information as possible to better help our librarians find your item.

    2. Contact a librarian.

Notes on Interlibrary Loan

  • Articles are usually delivered electronically to your Ranger email.

  • Plan ahead. Although the Interlibrary Loan Department works diligently to fulfill requests, the process takes time.

  • Use your NWOSU email address when you fill out a request. This lets our staff know you are an enrolled student so they can send your resources more quickly.

Instructions

  1. Watch the videos and read the descriptions above.

  2. Request* an article to which NWOSU Library Services does not have full-text access:

  3. Copy and paste the body of the confirmation email into a document and upload the document to Blackboard under Library Assignment #3.

    • On a PC:

      2. Paste by pressing Command + V.
