The DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals) was launched in 2003 at Lund University, Sweden, with 300 open-access journals. Today, the independent database contains ca. 12,000 open-access journals covering all areas of science, technology, medicine, social science, and humanities.

Because this is a directory of peer-reviewed journals freely accessible on the web, the titles cover a wide range of topics; careful searching may be necessary to discover relevant articles.

Applied Science & Technology is the result of merged high-quality databases from both EBSCO Publishing and H.W. Wilson. Its content derives from numerous sources, including leading trade and industrial journals, professional and technical-society journals, and conference proceedings. The scope of the database incorporates not only traditional engineering research but also research concerning the business and social implications of new technologies.

CMMC incorporates the content of CommSearch (formerly produced by the National Communication Association) and Mass Media Articles Index (formerly produced by Penn State) along with numerous other journals in communication, mass media, and other closely-related fields of study to create a research and reference resource of unprecedented scope and depth encompassing the breadth of the communication discipline.

CMMC offers cover-to-cover (‘core’) indexing and abstracts for more than 570 journals, and selected (‘priority’) coverage of nearly 200 more, for a combined coverage of more than 770 titles. Furthermore, this database includes full text for over 450 journals. Many major journals have indexing, abstracts, PDFs, and searchable cited references from their first issues to the present (dating as far back as 1915). CMMC contains a sophisticated Communication Thesaurus and comprehensive reference browsing (i.e., searchable cited references for peer-reviewed journals covered as ‘core’). In addition, CMMC features over 5,400 Author Profiles, providing biographical data and bibliographic information, and covering the most prolific, most cited, and most frequently searched-for authors in the database.

Subject coverage includes librarianship, classification, cataloging, bibliometrics, online information retrieval, information management, and more. Coverage in the database extends back as far as the mid-1960s.

This database also contains full text for nearly 500 reference books and over 164,400 primary source documents, as well as an image collection of over 502,000 photos, maps, & flags. MasterFILE Premier offers PDF backfiles (as far back as 1975) for key publications including American Libraries, Foreign Affairs, History Today, Judaism, Library Journal, National Review, Saturday Evening Post, etc.

The database contains comprehensive full text for major newspapers such as Christian Science Monitor, Irish Times (Ireland), San Francisco Chronicle, The Sydney Morning Herald (Australia), The Times (UK), Toronto Star, USA Today, The Washington Post, The Washington Times (DC), and others. This content is monitored by EBSCO, and relevant results are provided when users enter searches in EBSCOhost. This collection includes AP Financial News, AP Top News, AP WorldStream, AP U.S. Politics & Government, AP 50 State Reports, UPI Security Industry, UPI Emerging Threats, UPI Business, UPI Entertainment, UPI Sports, UPI Top News, Arabia 2000, and more. Legal Collection offers full text for more than 300 of the world’s best law journals. This database provides information centered on the discipline of law and legal topics such as criminal justice, international law, federal law, organized crime, medical, labor & human-resource law, ethics, the environment, and much more. Full-text journals contained in this database include American Journal of Criminal Law, California Law Review, and many more.

A majority of the full-text legal reference books are provided through Nolo, the nation’s oldest and most respected provider of legal information for consumers and small businesses. This database will offer the everyday user the necessary tools and detailed ‘how-to’ instructions to independently address a wide range of legal issues including business law, financial planning, family law, property & real estate, and rights & disputes.

Wilson print publication, Doctoral Dissertations Accepted by American Universities, 1933–1955. In 2015, the H.W. Wilson Foundation agreed to support the expansion of the scope of the American Doctoral Dissertations database to include records for dissertations and theses from 1955 to the present.

Metadata (information about the theses) comes from over 1100 colleges, universities, and research institutions.
