Section 3: Ordering Resources
Getting It Ordered
Sometimes, you need a resource that is unavailable in our library. But don’t let that stop you—if we don’t have it, we can get it.
In the following assignment, you’ll learn how to request materials through interlibrary loan.
Interlibrary Loan Tutorial
Interlibrary loan is a service for getting materials we don’t have.
The library catalog and all subscription databases contain tools to assist you in requesting an interlibrary loan. See the videos (Figures 1 & 2) to learn how to make requests.
Article requests from an EBSCOhost database:
Book and article requests from the catalog:
When all else fails:
You can use the Interlibrary Loan Form. Fill out the form with as much information as possible to better help our librarians find your item.
Notes on Interlibrary Loan
Articles are usually delivered electronically to your Ranger email as PDF files.
Plan ahead. Although the NWOSU Interlibrary Loan Department works diligently to fulfill requests, the process takes time.
Use your NWOSU email address when you fill out a request. This lets our staff know you are an enrolled student so they can send your resources more quickly.
Assignment 5: Request an Interlibrary Loan
Watch the videos and read the instructions above.
Request* an article to which NWOSU Library Services does not have full-text access:
You should get a confirmation email after you make your request.
Copy and paste the body of the confirmation email in Blackboard under Library Assignment #5.
